You might have seen this news report last week... of the car that ploughed into the cyclists in Mexico killing one of them...

and here...

Now my question is this... the lead car.... the black one in front of all the cyclists... appears to have swerved to the left.

If that was you driving that car in front of all the cyclists... would you have swerved out of the way?

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the PPA (Pedal Power Association) needs to go there and show those damn people how to organise a racing event!

As a cyclist, all I can say is, that is bloody scary!

Yeah saw this in the paper :(

Hope the driver gets decades behind bars. Regular visits from baba included

What I am asking is... should that lead car not have taken the brunt of the collision? He could much more easily have survived it than the cyclists?

maybe he swerved out of instinct, but if that was you... and you saw a car coming towards you and the cyclists, and you had time to react, would you not try to take out the car and protect the cyclists?

Looks like he had plenty of time to swerve to the left. :(

I dunno how fast the drunk driver was driving... looks pretty fast.

Whoa! That is crazy! Not sure about the swerve - looks like there was time to think about what he needed to do. I suppose I might have swerved out of instinct depending on how fast the other car was driving but I know I would regret it and feel awful about it afterwards.
