I have been noticing a few people driving around with what seems to be polish (not sure as the polish i use turns powdery after a few minutes) on their cars. i often see the same car with this "polish" on for a few days. what do they know that i don't..... does it give a better shine ? and what is the stuff they use.

Gives it a better shine and removes dirt. Shield Car polish

I go with the manufacturers recommendation on how to use - which says apply, and remove shortly after.

I have mostly only seen Taxis driving around with polish still on.

Read the label... follow instructions.

Unless you wanna remove the hardened polish with a hammer and chisel :wtf:

Autoglym SRP FTW. Apply polish, allow to sit for an hour or two and buff to a gorgeous shine, then apply Autoglym EGP to seal that gleam in.

Do not leave the polish on for so long!! Its not good and will scratch your paint again once you remove it.. Apply, let dry and buff off. Always apply wax afterwards. Also go with Meguiars as Gerhardva said :)

Note that there's a very large difference between wax and polish.

Leaving it on and driving around in it is a bit daft though (as it sounds from the OP) as the paint you are trying to protect will be mangled by the debris you pick up along the way and will ultimately need to rub off.

Or Sonax, or Autoglym, or Chemical Guys, or TurtleWax :)

Polish eats away a layer of paint, the longer you leave it on the more dirt and eventually actual layers of paint it burns though, so it may look better but you are damaging your paint job

Or mothers, poor boys, optimum, Collinite, black fire, menzerna, Wolfgang

Hehe
