Car remote-jamming syndicate bust in KZN

intelligence gathering? you mean standing around watching them is intelligence gathering? Then I'm gathering intelligence right now

Must be about 2 years ago they got my laptop in Kloof.
I stopped on a friday arvie after work at the shop to pick up some things. I drive a DC so no boot but bag was on the floor in the back.

Drove all the way home with no idea till I got home and took out the packet and could not find the laptop bag.

Went to report it at the police station, 2 other people there at the same time, reporting the same thing from exactly the same place. All Toyota's on that day.

Well done to the police who got the perps , this is the kind of thing that gives you hope .

Only idiots, unaware of their surroundings and of what's happening around them in general, will be "robbed" by signal jammers.

Let me help:

1. Park vehicle
2. Point remote at vehicle whilst looking at vehicle.
3. Depress remote button and observe vehicle locking, indicated by alarm sound as well as doors "making locking sound".
4. Walk away with valuables like handbag, laptop bag etc. over your shoulder.

Done.

And still people insists on leaving their valuables inside their vehicles... the mind boggles.

You're kidding right?

Overnight I agree with you - but there are times you cannot help but have valuables in the car when you go to a shop or event or anything really

Get stabbed, because they are jittery, when they rob you of the thing over your shoulder with a knife...

Just put the stuff in the boot where it cant be seen and lock.

I agree about the first part though, "I/my partner locked the car and went inside the shop and when she came out blah blah blah", never is it ""I/my partner thought she locked the car but obviously didn't"...

I hope he is kidding.

When you are at your place of sleep, sure, take it out. Enough cars in complexes broken into around here to teach the inhabitants to take their valuable stuff out.

True, I'm not gonna lug my tablet, laptop and everything around while out. I just make sure the car is locked and the valuables out of sight. I have insurance to cover breakins.

By the way I leave my wallet in car overnight and at work, my car has never been broken.

Before you get to the shopping centre the goods should already be in the boot. They watch people locking things away.

Some insurer's enforce the basic conditions being Visible, Violent and/or Forceable entry or exit to/from the vehicle and goods to be locked in a concealed compartment of the locked vehicle.

The officers caught up to the gang on the N3 near the Umbumbulu turn-off where they boxed their car in with four police vehicles before forcing the car to a stop and arresting the three men inside.

Would love to see the dashcam footage of this.

Or, get out of vehicle.
Remain at front driver side door where you just got out
Press button on remote
Feel if your ****ing door is locked
Enjoy your shopping.

I dont understand the cool factor of locking your door 100m from your car.
