What would you guys do in this situation? Someone scratched my car with something sharp, drawing loops all along the side from the drivers side keyhole to the tail light. The passenger side also has some long scratches as well as the tail light.

Have no idea who did it or why. I assume it was a kid in the complex.

Well first tell us.
Do you park in front of other people houses or blocking people?
Do you rev your engine, play loud music or speed while driving inside the complex?
Do you regularly have parties or play music?
Do you have dogs that bark the whole day?
Or are you the one in the complex that complain about everything?

Does doing any of these things justify the cost of a respray?

If you insured you just log a claim with insurance and go along with the process paying the excess etc...

As others have said if you have cctv get that then the third part covers excess etc...

Knobbing neighbors will attract this kind of attack, I know it well...

If it was parked in the common area, log a liability claim from the Body Corporate. If not, just claim it from your own insurance. Nothing else that can be done really.

None of the above. Just keep to myself and basically just chat to the guards and caretakers sometimes. Living by myself there for over 5 years now and don't even have people over as it's just a smallish 1 bedroom apartment. The complex has no pets.

Keying a car is a very emotional thing.

Someone got knobbed, someone else didn't like it.

Don't forget excessive hooting.

/scratches balls

As others have said, go through insurance.

Also speak with chairperson of trustees to find out if there’ve been other similar incidents. If you can pin down which kid did it, bliksem him.

No much you can do. Claim from your insurance. Lodge a complaint with your body corp.

I doubt you have cameras covering the parking areas - so dont think you will find who did it.

The person could at least have left a note, something like...

Hi, I am leaving this note because I scratched your car. I have no intention of leaving my name and contact details, but me writing this while standing next to your car is making the car guard watching me think that is what I am doing so he is leaving me alone.

Get your insurance to sort it, even if you find who did this.
