Good evening

My cousin's car Kia Picanto was suppose to go for service, on the 1st of June for 45 000km. It slipped her mind on Friday when the car reached 44 000km, she called to book the car in for service the service lady said she can bring the car in on Wednesday.

We just want to ask can this cause problems in terms of warranty. She knows she was suppose to take the car in, regardless of the mileage. She say she totally forgot. She only noticed when she was looking for the service book that the car was suppose, to have gone for service on 1st of June.

Check the contract she signed with the dealer for information on this.. It's the best place to confirm these types of things..

Not really but I think where she might have had a problem is if something went wrong (and was covered by the warranty) they might have rejected to fix it based on the late servicing, depending on the dealership.

Kia allows you to service your car 1000 kms before the exact service kms and 1000 kms after, so your service interval lies between 44k to 46k kms. Look it up in the service book.

Or every 12 months whichever comes first.

So if it was last services on 1 June 2017 then it might be a bit sticky but yes being a month only I don’t expect there to be any hassle.

If it was serviced well after 1 June 2017 then noting at all to even wonder about as the mileage applies instead.

Besides the only time this would ever come up is if there was a catastrophic failure and unless specifically worded somewhere they probably wouldn’t even try to play that out. These companies aren’t out to get people and generally just file the warranty claim and soldier on as it’s not even out of their own pocket anyway and gets billed back to the mothership.

I’ve had two different vehicles sorted out with issues OUTSIDE of warranty by many months for always having used the dealerships and supporting them. One of those claims cost in excess of a 100k.

Forgot the 12 month thing, that is also another correct condition.

As you've highlighted above I also don't foresee any problems and agree with your inputs.

My cousin took the car for service before going to work, she say they said it wouldn't be a problem since the car's mileage is not above 45000km. The current mileage is 44255km.
