Please recommend me a good subwoofer + amp combo to upgrade the sound in a VW Polo.

Speakers will be next.

Hi Peter

I would recommend that you drop the suspension first. Next on your list should be a freelow exhaust. This complement these upgrades a seat drop will round it off.

Check Autostyles website they usually have some budget friendly combos with boxes for sale.
:ROFL:Hi thanks,

I don't mind stretching my budget for quality. Have you installed something from Autostyles?

Didnt know this was still big. Thought a lot of new cars came with pretty decent systems standard.

Bit of leg work, but might be a good idea to call installers in your area and ask them to quote you? Doesnt seem like to people advertise online (similar to tyres not really prominent on the net).

No ways. The Polo sound is atrocious.

That's why they released the Beats version.

Yes the stock sound on the Polo is terrible, especially the low end to mids.

I could have spec'd the Beats sound system but they had no stock.

Find a place that does Rockford/Lightning audio. Ask for a nice clean split system with an 8inch DVC for some quality sound. They will be pricier than most but definitely quality.

If you have to go lower budget, JBL is decent.

Both of these are decent combos. You will be happy for a long time.

My last sound system I had was splits upfront a 4 ch Amp and a 12" sub in my Polo Cross. Had it for 6 years. Car got written off a month ago.

If it wasn't for the headunit and Renault interesting engineering. I would have installed a Rockford system by now. I had it in my ST and Yaris 15 yrs ago lol

We need a review :) I'm tempted now
I'm bad at reviewing but Abrie at Acoustic Audio supplied & installed the following components:

Rockford Fosgate Punch P1675-S 6.5" Split system

RF Prime R2D2-12 Subwoofer

RF Prime R2-300x4 Amplifier

Sound's very full in the cabin with thick BASS especially for passengers in the back seat

Also Mags. Get some Mags first.

Not sure if I can piggyback of your thread....

I upgraded my sound on Monday in a xtra cab bakkie, but it's no good, sounds horrible at the moment (Still need to get sub, but thinking of getting rid of these horrible speakers already)

Told the farker I want it to sound as close as possible to my 2009 volvo, all stock standard speakers in there.

What the place installed was:
4 x Kicker DSC6504 6.5" coaxial speakers in front and read doors.
PowerBass 4CH 6000W AMP (4 x 140W RMS per channel)
High to low converter
4G wiring kit
Monitor 1F-2M RCA splitter

I am not sure if by adding a sub it would solve the current horrible sound these speakers produce at all, so don't want to spend more money on a sub before I sort the current setup out
Suppose I need to go to another place as the current place seems they have no idea what they are doing.

Oh, and when I asked where is the old speakers he told me still in the door, they cut those speakers and then fit the new ones "in" them... I was like WTF, so he destroyed them. Thinking of asking for a refund on everything, then he would owe me new factory speakers

Abrie is 1 of the best installers in the country.

I'm glad you're sorted & happy.

I upgraded the wife old X trail head unit. It was a standard single cd player. I bought a Pioneer mp3 with bluetooth/HFT and imported an adaptor from aliexpress so that I dont have to cut any wires. It was a straightforward job. Works properly due to said adaptor. No issues so for at least 3 years.

That amplifier is overpowering that coaxials. Turn down the gains and reduce the base. Should sound better if only the mid & high frequencies are played through them.

You should have installed 1 set of coaxials (splits would have been better) and a sub instead of 2 sets of coaxials.
