Hi

Shopping for car sound is the worst thing ever!
Too many people saying this and that.

Sigh! How do i resolve this conundrum?

Research, become an expert and then decide for yourself what you want :P

What are you looking at getting?

I used to know a lot about this from experimenting and wasting money in my younger years.

If you're not doing the installation yourself, start with finding a decent installer.

Set a budget and tell yourself what you want out of it - prioritise quality or how loud, bass, etc and what you want the most.

Chat to the installer and tell them what you want within budget so that they can recommend something. Do some research on that and see if it suits your needs.

I personally decided to get the best quality speakers my budget allowed for rather than going for average speakers with an average amp and sub. For me, there was enough bass with the new speakers over what the stock sound gave me that I never went back for that sub and amp. If I had wanted to, I also would not have needed to upgrade the speakers in the future for better sound because they were more than good enough.

While on car sound topic I have insurance on my car if I want to change the radio on my car how does that play out. Do they increase my premium can I do it anywhere or I should only go to the dealer. I driving Honda Brio so I want to install the touch screen radio I don't want to change the speakers, I just need to change the head gear only.

Your budget is important.

The type of music you listen to.

Are you willing to have modifications done to the door panels etc to install aftermarket equipment.

R5000 budget. Want good clean sound for music. Not grrrrr grrrrr baaaaa baaaaa doooofff doooof taxi'ness #vibrations #decibels And im looking for a 10' sub. Not going 12'. The sound must be clear.. the bass must be good bass.. not run away dragging bass.. i want in-car entertainment.. not for the neighbourhood to hear how loud and banging it is.

Then you don't need a sub at all...

I get you, exactly what I am looking for good, clear music for myself in the car, i am going DIY on mine, since my car is so small even an 8 inch sub will be appropriate, i agree with you, i am yet to decide on the sub and amp set, but i definately won't go for a sub that is going to fill my whole boot like most people do, a decent 10 or even 8inch properly tucked away, i will design a custom enclosure if I have to.
