So,

Any suggestions welcome, but:

R180k budget.
  • Diesel
  • Automatic
  • Less than 100k km

Preferably a more luxury sedan, but I'm open to suggestions,

The only cars I know I don't want are Polo's and Opel's.

What do you guys suggest?

Renault Duster DCi second hand (not the petrol) - why auto? think they only make manual - not sure - but go check it out anyway.

go check one out - you wont be disappointed.

They're only manual unfortunately.

Check out the 3 series, A4 and C Class if you want a German car. Also have a look at the new Mazdas... The 2.0 petrol is quite good on fuel and may be good enough to not need to go diesel

thanks - doesn't have to be a diesel, but will need to get around 7l/100km mixed with a lot of highway cruising

I got less than 6.5 on my last tank. Previous shape 2014 Mazda 3 1.6 with mixed driving. With lots of traffic I got a max of 7l/100 km.

I've heard that the new engines are quite a lot more economical as well... Definitely worth a look. They're really nice to drive and the interior quality is amazing.

I would get any car that's not GM. Audi A4 is good, gets around 7l/100km with town/highway cruising. If town only, it can go up to 11. This is petrol though, I won't recommend getting Diesel.

Hang a sec...didn't you have the recently purchased...Adam?

I do! Love the car, but I have a very bad back at the tender age of 21 I've had a collapsed disc as well as 2 other bulging discs.

Since buying the Adam the problem has gotten 10x worse with sitting in traffic, if I drive my mom's 2010 1 series I don't deal with half as much pain, these Adam seats are killing me slowly...

Then surely your criteria in your first post should be "need to test drive first to see if seats will carry on killing me slowly or not"?

I do like mazda, will look into it!

Sure, but that's why I said I was leaning more towards a luxury sedan, I'd have to test any car for the seats, as what is comfortable for others might be agony for me, so I am just looking for suggestions at this point.

OUCH! I have a compressed L1 (20%) and the bit of pain I go through in early winter has me losing my mind, I cannot even begin to imagine what you're going through.

You know what cars have incredible seats? Volvos, most cushioned cars (seats and suspension) around. Maybe look for a 2012 S40 or even C30? Truly comfortable cars
