Those that have used a germination mix - what have you found works best and in what ratios?

Peat, vermiculite etc

Your will and testament in order?

We had that hemorrhage sauce once. Maybe I'm not as tough as you guys but that **** was like a nail through my tongue. Instaheartburn.

Saw him advertise the be snotklap sauce on Facebook...I was tempted :D

I have hundreds of assortment of hot chilli seeds to give away - can't tell you what type because they got mixed - but you will end up with either carolina reapers, habaneros, ghost, chocolate habaneros, 7-pot etc.

I also have a few germinated seeds to give away if anyone can make it to Midrand, I was about to bin them as I planted over a hundred plants yesterday and there were a few left.

To germinate I just put them in-between a paper towel, spray them with water and seal in tupperware and in about 2 - 3 weeks have little seedlings ready to plant.

I put this together last night, pics taken just after I put the power on. She's currently sitting at 29C

Fully automatic - currently set to mist 3 times a day, heating pad with thermostat set to cut off at 32C. The probe is sitting alongside the brain strain seeds.

Also getting back into chillies, still acclimatizing to Habaneros :)
Is there a way to tell whether a Habanero will pack a punch? A number of my firm, orangey Habaneros didn't pack as much punch as the dark, mushy red ones.

Woah, nice, a lot of effort.
I just put my chili seedling trays outside on the patio, they appear to be happy enough!

What seeds are they? I hear that with the really hot ones it's hard to get them to germinate and keeping the temp between 27 and 32C speeds up the process greatly and you're supposed to get a higher success rate. Apparently around 38C germination will be really quick but, but the success rate will be lower.

Between brewing beer and sprouting / growing micro greens had all the equipment. Just needed to pick up a heating pad. Currently on 30.5C - so I think i should get pretty good results.

I have the hottest chilis available - from Carolina, 7-pot, Ghost and habaneros and they germinate just fine using the damp paper towel method. I germinated around 60 seeds this year. My wife can't be bothered germinating so she just plants seeds and she has a few seedlings sprouting - they are quite easy to grow. I have about 30-40 plants from last year that survived the winter, and about 20 seedlings so far that have sprouted from this years germination batch from about a hundred all in all including the seeds my wife planted. I expect probably all 100, all close to it to sprout within the next week or so.

Do you spray with water during that 2 - 3 weeks in tupperware?

I see there is now a chilli hotter than the Carolina Reaper - the Dragon's Breath chilli from Wales. 2.48 million Scoville!

@MSB Great setup! Where did you buy it from?

That's an EasyGreen sprouter. We used to sell them on Ecohub.co.za but they are no longer being imported to SA.

I then attached a heating pad which I got from hydroponic.co.za

I had a STC-1000 temperature controller which I use for brewing beer, so I connected that up.
