I know that we have done the 'Carte Blanche'/'Special Assignment' thing recently but they haven't taken the bait.

Perhaps we should renew our call to these programmes to do a story on Telkom ADSL, now that the rest of the media has caught onto the "1000% more expensive..." story?

I think if they get enough individual complaints and one or two group complaints they may respone, I think someone posted a link to their site recently.

Add some blood and gore, some abused elephants and some cute ducks that cant cross the road... all 'cos telkom is so expensive so that help could not be called in a timeous fashion ;-)

Just remember the story of the boy who cried wolf... annoy them and your mails will end up in the "crap bucket"

whether people cry wolf or not, it's their duty as current events programs to look into this. the entire country is being held back because of telkom, not just a few people. yet they see it fit to air a few crappy inserts now and then that affect a select few, where they could be helping the south african cause by putting pressure on telkom.

Rather get 3rd degree that presenter always interviews some1 from the company /country they are investigating and she gives a tough interview id like to see her interviewing lulu :P

You won't get the them to do a story on ADSL, it's still seen as too elitist (I know, the attitude sucks, catch 22 etc etc).

You might get them to do one on "what's wrong with Telkom" http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=31727 (picture a presenter going 'once one of the best companys in SA, now on the Sunday Time's Not Hot list. What the hell(kom) went wrong?')

Carte Blanche = MNET=MWEB= Telkom.
A waste of time to deal with them

Carte Blance is run by MNET - another mini-molpoloy in its own right. Would not be in their best interests to fight Telkom on this issue, otherwise we could all have webTV

maybe that is the angle. Why is it an elite thing? is the internet only for the rich?
Well yes in south africa it is only for the rich. WHY?

Roelf Diederick's presentation about WIFI at the ADSL conference regarding the school and clinic provided the perfect materfial for a carte blanche story, that can then be expanded how it is actually breaking the law and that Telkom will do anything to ensure it's monopoly, as it is also doing in Knysna. Thereafter add the little bit about the cd's being sent from SPACE as well as the fly to Hong Kong, which has now achieved urban rumour status. Add a dash about the benefits of affordable internet to poor South Africans and we have a perfect program for Carte Blanche(containing all Carte Blanche requirements). However I believe that that is once more preaching to the well to do citizens and that a program on TV1 would be much better suited to telling the people out there. This could be followed with a panel discussion on Talk at 5, where you can show the Telkom lies up. So let Carte Blanche pass this opportunity by.

There is nothing elitist about the Internet. At the moment however it is the worst form of discrimination that exists in South Africa where only nthe elitist minority can afford a proper internet connection and then also have to trim their access because of the exorbitant costs

If Carte Blanche were interested then they would have done a story already.

Like I said before, Carte Blanche and MNET have too much backing by Telkom they'll never do the story.
