Who’s hot/Who’s not

Telkom listed under ‘Who’s Not’: “Telkom gets a brickbat, despite its sterling performance since listing. It remains a monopoly in South Africa - the second network operator, its much-vaunted competitor, is stll nowhere in sight. Now this might not be Telkom’s fault, but its hold on the telecommunications in South Africa is. The high cost of telecoms and Telkom’s hold over Internet Service Providers are of great concern, as is its heavy-handedness when it is criticised. It has launches legal action against its arch-nemesis Helkom [sic Hellkom] and against its regulator, the Independent Telecommunications Authority.”

This is a purely business supplement, and it is encouraging to see that Telkom’s behaviour makes then ‘Not Hot’ despite their good JSE performance. The word is spreading…
