Hi there

I'm looking for a case with the most hard drive bays. all the accessories must be included so that I don't need to get extra stuff to convert some of the 5.25" bays to 3.5" bays.

I don't have a budget yet so will take any suggestions.

Thanks

Wootware and prophecy sell 5.25 -> 3.5 bay converters.

edit: lian li also make small form factor cases that can take up to 7 drives

I see you don't need the HDD cages if I go with the Antec 1200. Only downside is that the thing looks like a Christmas tree with all the lights

This is the most you will get, I reckon, or at least the cheapest. I wouldn't know about the cooling, though.

CM 590 with 2 extra 5.25 -> 3.5 convertors (it already comes with 1, apparently) = 12 3.5 HDDs for little over a grand.

You just might have problems finding a 590.

+1

anything else. I found this case. A bit expensive but it will get the job done I think http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product/product06.php?pr_index=389&cl_index=2&sc_index=0&ss_index=0&g=f

Go with Rudi's suggestion, get a CM690 II and add the 4-in-3 bay converter. I currently use these in my HAF932, work s a a dream

lol I suggested a 590 (Centurion) but a 690 with the converter will get you about 10 or 11.

I'm glad it works well. I must admit that I would be a little skeptical, because the airflow doesn't look like it would be that great with how much is covered by that silver bar.

The Lian-Li one definitely looks to be better constructed, but it only holds 3 drives, and I would first make certain that it would fit in the case you get, since in the past Lian-Li has been notorious for making things that only fit their own cases.

I'm looking at the cm690 option. Do you guys think this pc will last me 10 years+. I'm planning on running a raid 5 system.

I was thinking of getting a sandy bridge or if I can later this year get the ivy Bridge.

If you are referrring to the chassis, then yes...however no piece of hardware will last 10yrs + in a heavy usage environment unless it was built with to industrial enterprise grade.

You do not need a sandy bridge or ivy bridge system to run RAID 5.....current CPU's and eco systems will do the job just fine in my opinion.

I know I don't need Sandy bridge or Ivy bridge. This is not for myself and It's for a company. Thats why it must last them 10+years like servers. The only problem with servers us that the I can't just get the motherboard and CPU alone and then choose my case etc. Most server cases can only hold up to 6 x HDD. We talking about 16TB. If the company looses that it's going to be hectic. I know there is tape drives etc etc but we need this.

Just make sure you get a gigabyte ud7 board. Probably most reliable boards ever.
