Case with most hard drive bays

What do you want to do?

I want to setup a pc/server to run as a storage server. Running raid5 will give me redundancy and I know that there's a performance hit when going Raid5. This is just for storage so performance not that much of an issue. I was checking at getting a genuine NAS device but it's very slow. Copying at 1MB/s on a gigabit LAN.

Forget about Hardware Raid 5. On SATA it's very expensive and if your controller fails, all data is gone.
Use Linux with software raid. Just as fast and it works.

I'm using Ubuntu with zRaid (zfs).
 
I was thinking about software raid 5. I'm leaning towards the lian-li PC-A70F. i know it's expensive case but I feel like that case will fit better. the CM690 feels like a tight fit.

I was also thinking of going with the H57 motherboard. The only problem with the MSI motherboard is that it doesn't have any PCI slots to add A sata card. So I can also go with the MS-P67A-GD65 and then I have at least 8 SATA ports and 2 PCI slots that I can use for a 2 port sata card. So what do you guys think? will this work? please give me suggestions? Thanks for all the help so far really helped me out.

O and before I forget will a aftermarket cpu cooler improve the reliability of the pc? I was thinking of the corsair H60 or H70.

In general, I don't think this is a good idea. You're talking about 16TB of storage for a company that cannot suffer data loss. Catering to this requirement with MickeyMouse parts is asking for k@k (to put it mildly.)

If you don't care for the above comment:
1. RAID5 is not good enough. Dual drive failure does happen. At least run RAID6, preferably with a hot-spare.
2. The onboard RAID controller may clash with additional cards so you may not reach the 11 x 2TB drives needed to provide 16TB.

Going with raid6 will only give me about 11TB of usable HDD space

I was thinking of splitting the server in two raid arrays. Like doing to sets of raid 5 so thats for each 5 drives we do a raid 5. We will be getting some extra drives as spares for hard drive failures.

First we go with 5 drives and then when that is full we can go with another 5 drives. maybe at that time we will have like 3-4TB drives and we can add 5 of those in another raid 5
