it is actually pathetic. have they not realised by now that the money has dye stains in it once they break the container open
The dye stain happen immediately once the CIT guard moves his finger away from the box(sort of button they hold down - activated) to deactivate they have something in their truck, many incidents happen freq where CIT guards by accident moved their fingers. Then they open the box, take the cash, any serial number of every note is written off and sent to be destroyed.
They will never learn, even the bank sometimes lure the unsuspecting criminals to bring in the notes for new notes. Happen to me once received a dye note from an ATM. Immediately hold the note up towards the camera as proof. The amount of paperwork to change it was easy if I didn't show the proof to camera I would have had a nightmare.
Isn't there normally another guard somewhere? And don't these guys carry assault rifles? Why didn't the other guy shoot the crap out of them?
Firstly none of us were there when the CIT heist happen, there could of been more criminal elements outside having a gun faced at the other guard.
What I have noticed sometimes when it isn't large sums of cash 1 guy will actually leave the vehicle, well the other will count the money. Refilling ATM machines you want to stay clear, there will always be an undercover vehicle with the safe keys and a colleague accompany him always. They arrive on site first, then CIT truck with about 3 armed personals, box will be handed to the guy with the safe keys, he refills the atm.
I am always very unfortunate always there the right time when they either refilling/collecting cash,worst is when you have about 5 CIT trucks at the same premises collecting cash from different retailers. Every corner you see a hawk, who seems trigger happy and won't take crap. Fire now, ask question later.
My friend worked for CIT company and they would travel 200 KM+ a day, they would have 8 digits or more on hand.

There was a cash-in-transit robbery in Protea Glen, Soweto, on Tuesday morning, police said.
Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said a G4S security guard was robbed of a box full of money shortly after he collected it from the Pick n Pay at the Protea Glen shopping complex.
“Two men pointed a firearm at him as he was about to get into the van. They took the box as well as his firearm,” said Makhubela.
The robbers fled the scene in a green Volkswagen Golf.
No shots were fired and no one was injured in the robbery.
Makhubela said it was unclear how much money was taken.
