Hi all

Friends of mine won a PS3 on Friday. Problem is they arent hardcore gamers, so they're looking more at games in the Wii style... example golf or racing games or bowling etc, stuff you can play 2-4 ppl on the PS3 against each other.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The Playstation wand is still en-route, but when it's here, then you will be able to play games just like the Wii.

At the moment, your'e best bet would be games like Buzz, Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly. There aren't any motion games AFAIK.

Heres a solution... me buy a WII me give to your friend, your friend give for I thee shiny ps3 :wtf:

The PlayStation store has a couple of gems - most available at under R100.

Thanks, but i think the motion sensing wasnt what they sought, they know about that. I think they want some simple, cartoon-graphics type games, which is easy to play at parties or stuff.

Thanks to the other posters as well, ill pass the recommendations along :D

Bomberman is a must have. Countless hours of mindless blasting fun.

I'm not familiar with 2 player games on the PS3, but a definite must is Little Big Planet™.

As a MMO & FPS addict spanning back to the days of Operation Wolf, I thoroughly enjoyed LBP.

Everybody's Golf World Tour is quite a bit of fun! I'd even say that Little Big Planet is an option as a fun casual game with co-op!

As others have said check the PS store.
Ones to look out for are:
Super Stardust HD
Elefunk (think thats how its spelt)
All the Pixel Junk games. (just do a search for it)
Mushroom Wars
TV Game Show (I think thats the name)

Also check out Little Big Planet, Mod Nation Racers.

There is a pretty cool and cheap Ten Pin Bowling game available in the Playstation Store - you use the controler like a bowling ball - literally swing it back and foward .. then use the buttons to adjust for spin. Kinda fun

As for party games .. or games you just leave on for friends to play - you could try Pain (basically a dude in a catapult that you shoot over the cityscape (or themepark .. or movie studio) - I have friends who forgot about midnight and new years count-down cause they were playing that.

LOL

I assume you need to connect the PS3 to the internet to access the Playstation Store? How do you pay? Credit card?

Sixaxis motion control is a little fail imho. I'm looking forward to those ice-cream-looking-motion-wand-jobbies.

Also a casual gamer and sports nut.
My games are:
Fifa10, Virtua Tennis and Ashes.
Waiting for wand and Tiger woods 11.
Nice games to play with friends or alone for like 15-30min.

To re-iterate what others and have said, and to add a few:

FIfa 10
Tiger Woods 2010

LittleBigPlanet
High Velocity Bowling (PSN)
Atomic Bomberman (PSN)

What about a fighting game like Tekken - always goes down well with friends...
