Cat S61 smartphone was launched in February 2018. The phone comes with a 5.20-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels.

The Cat S61 is powered by 2.2GHz octa-core processor and it comes with 4GB of RAM. The phone packs 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Cat S61 packs a 16-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 8-megapixel front shooter for selfies.

The Cat S61 runs Android 8.0 and is powered by a 4500mAh. It measures 150.00 x 76.00 x 13.00 (height x width x thickness) .

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and FM. Sensors on the phone include Compass/ Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope and Barometer. FLIR.

I am a big HTC fan. Very difficult to get a HTC so I had to get a Samsung. I am now due for a upgrade and really are looking for something fun different and more damage resistant.

Cat does tick all the rugged boxes. It also has FLIR vision I would use occasionally. Calculate sqm from a photo I would use often.
Also has a sensor to warn of dangerous air conditions. Niffty gadget.

Wondering if this phone is a option? Anyone have an opinion on the phone? any feed back on the previous model S60

This looks better than my S60 which has a membrane strip at the bottom of the screen which keeps going off, the S61 doesn't have that. Probably still no built in mail app.

would you get one?

Big Screen with the slimmest design, eye-pleasing back design, NFC Support, Fingerprint, updated OS, and cheap in term of price. I recommend you, new and fresh Poptel P10.
Is this another Chinese clone brand with fake memory and processor speed figures?

just waiting for Telkom to start stocking the S61

Would get one but seems Vodacom are not interested in innovative phones.

Nothing on other new phones (except the Sony 3d scanning) worth mentioning in the last couple of years.

Got one through CellC, they do not have it as a list item, they order it for you, I really like it, coming from a Huawei P10 and Iphone6s (long story), the CAT tick all the boxes,I really like they robust feel, long battery life, and all the other little gadgets. two concerns:
1) the closure for the usb port appears a bit flimsy, I am convinced that will be the first part that fails.
2) No fingerprint reader ( yes I know that it is not such a massive thing) but once you quite used to using finger print authentication for banking, unlocking etc, you actually miss it
The other niggle is that the screen is extremely responsive to touch, but I think that might be because I have glove detection on( which works very well for motorcycle gloves.

No Dual Sim in South Africa, so my rain sim is now delegated to the iphone as a hotspot.
