CAT6 cabling needed

I would actually get CAT5e pure copper, its R690 for 305M from DBG.co.za and you will get a myBB discount.

Do you want this switch to be gigabit or is 100meg fine?

Yeah I think I might go the cat5e route. Probably a 16 or 20 port gigabit unmanaged

If you're going with higher spec than cat5e make sure your cable is terminated suitably, to match the cable.

Avoid copper clad aluminium cable. Make sure it's solid copper cable.

Get yourself a wall mounting rack cabniet now and have all your cables routed and terminated into it. Get atleast a 16 port gigabit switch even if you don't plan on using many ports. You will in the end. Get yourself some unifi ac lite AP units and ceiling mount them and have cable run now with the other cabling.

Meh, he must get fibre. Only R8 pm for 16 core.

2F (1 x black module) Internal Single Sheath Drop Cable - G657.A2 with print ledgend - TF02
R 7.16

It's 6 core sorry not 16 for ~R8 pm

Don't want to be rude but this the worst advice ever.
2F means it is only 2 Core fiber (Duplex)
Installing fiber requires devices with ports for SFP's and/or GBIC's on both ends (which are expensive). Alternatively you'll need media converters (also expensive).

Just install CAT6 you'll be covered the foreseeable future.

lol it was a joke. CAT6 will be fine

I'm a total network noob and want to run some network cables through the house. I plan to buy a TP-Link Archer D7 ADSL router to have gigabit. So how do I do this, should a seprit CAT6 cable run from the room where the router will sit to each other room in the house where I want a point, or do you somehow run the cable in a chain from one room to the other?
Also, if I run a single CAT6 cable to the down stares study but want 2 - 3 ethernet sockets for 2 - 3 computers in that same room, can the 1 cable be split in to 2 or 3 ethernet sockets or will it be best to then put a switch in the study?
