soooo, anyone know when we are going to get the expansion here is SA? is it on going to be online only for the 1st 2 months after its released? are there any stores that are going to stock it from the word go, or very shortly thereafter?

As with the previous expansions it will be released at the same time as the rest of the world or more specifically, EU.

12 o'clock BT games release probably.

Then install, download patches and start playing about 2 hours later.

no date as yet, still only in alpha testing, and seeing as the ruby sanctum only went into beta testing last nite, will probably only be a few months after starcraft 2 is released. is it going to be possible to download the entire (rest) of the expansion if you buy the cd key?

can a good soul in cape town who has uncapped organise that for me then

If previous expansions are anything to go by, then most of the expansion will be delivered in a large patch a few weeks before the release date. It just wont be accessible. However, this expansion is changing existing zones. I believe that expansion will actually be in 2 parts:

1. The changes to the zones in Azeroth, ie. Splitting of Barrens etc. This part is available to all players even if dont buy the expansion.
2. The 2 new races and raising the level cap and the new prof. You will need to buy the expansion for this.

Look here for more info. http://www.wow-europe.com/cataclysm/faq/

If what you want to know isnt here, then there is no answer yet :D

Specifically :

Will I need the expansion to be able to experience the Cataclysm changes?
When the Cataclysm occurs, it will occur for all players, whether they have purchased the expansion or not--you will no longer be able to play in the original version of Kalimdor or the Eastern Kingdoms. However, certain features such as the new zones, new races, and new level cap will only be accessible to players who purchase the expansion.

this. and thats why I, and sooooooooo many others have been hanging on to every word from blizzard since the seminal releases of Warcraft 1 and Diablo 1. (wish they would redo them for the 21st century though)

Most likely early next year ;)
First phase of beta is now open, but that can take some months still...

ya btgames will have midnight release again :)

take 2 says October but most probably only November

AS probably one of the largest and most anticipated game releases of this or next year? My money's on it being on the shelves here same day as everywhere else. Fret not. WoW is not some backyard indy game developed by 3 guys and their pet lizard in a basement in Kazakhstan.

ja, they hired a flat from some foreign national in the bad part of LA, and upgraded their lizard to a blue lizard. with the expansion they can upgrade it to a purple lizard

yeah - like i learnt from both wow and avatar - you can't be a hero without an epic mount (i.e. purple lizzard!)
