Cattle slaughter on N1 after crash

If only someone with a machine gun was there to protect the cattle.
 
Just when I forget what continent I'm living on, I read an article like this.
 
This happens on the farms all the time. They steal the cow, lead it into the bushes, slash it legs so it can't move and proceed to hack it to death. While we were up there over the festive season they lost three cows like this in one night :(
 
Let's throw rocks at the driver and nearly kill him, then let's hack live cows for food!

If we get caught, just say it's part of our culture! Awesome plan, my brother!

Battery / intensive farms can be pretty barbaric. I wonder how many people shouting 'barbaric' have supported such a farm in the past few days.

I support proper butheries not savage slaughters or roadkill.

I am sure that truck was targeted for a reason by those barbaric savages.

For sure. I just don't think what they've done is that bad in comparison to the way animals are treated in many parts of the ' civilized' world every day & that many 'civilized' people support.

I'm definitely not agreeing with anything they've done tho.

21 January 2015 at 17:26 by Sapa - A crowd of people tried to hack meat off cattle after a trailer they were being transported in overturned on the N1 in Gauteng, the NSPCA said on Wednesday.



"With knives and buckets, the mob was chasing cattle that had managed to release themselves from the vehicle, some of which had injuries including broken legs. Their intention was to hack meat from the living animals," the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said in a statement.

"Some animals were unable to escape and were stolen or slaughtered by the frenzied crowd."

The driver allegedly lost control of the truck near the Grasmere toll plaze around 5pm on Tuesday after rocks were thrown at his vehicle from a bridge.

The NSPCA, police, fire and rescue units, and the traffic department worked to clear the road, control the crowd, and free trapped cattle using the Jaws of Life.

Some of the cattle who were "beyond salvation" were slaughtered on the scene.
