So yesterday i was playing on my fairly new xbox (less than 2 months old) when the power tripped and suddenly my xbox started showing the dreaded RROD. I unplugged the console and tried again after about an hour. It no longer showed the 3 flashing red lights and everyone works fine now. Should I be worried?

Nope but the next time it trips, it could blow the power brick or the power socket on the motherboard.

If it blows the motherboard ... time for a swap out ;)

happened to a friend of mine, also due to ole Eskom, but the problem went away for a few months and guess what, he's now waiting for his RROD replacement unit

ummm the plug thingy that the xbox 360 is connected to has a little red triangle with a lightning bolt in it. does that mean it has surge protection?
