CBI Astute plug

On the software, I'd go Shelly (the red one does the power monitoring though - not blue)

But like said, it was just too much hassle .
Eh, I don't really need power monitoring, it would be a nice-to-have.

I might buy one Shelly and one CBI and see which I prefer in the long term. They're cheap enough for testing purposes.

Thanks for the inputs, and to @Speedster and @SauRoNZA as well!

Has there been any movement in trying to get the CBI app to actually allow you to download the CSV data off the Electric Stats Page? Seems weird to me that they can display the data but don't allow one to download it?

Does anyone know if the scheduled timers on the Astute Plugs will work during a prolonged network blackout? If one has the local IP to the device is one not able to log in to the device via LAN? is one stuck with using either the app or HA?

No sir : https://cbi-lowvoltage.co.za/faq-ca... Smart Devices will, set and run the schedules.

Do the Astute Smart Devices work without internet connection?

No, Astute Smart Devices will not work properly without an internet connection. The device stores all schedules in the cloud, so it needs the internet to set and run the schedules. It can only be switched manually without internet connectivity.

If you have Home Assistant, Tuya Local / Local Tuya make this speedbump go away

Do I really have to manually enable pairing mode to move these devices over to a new WiFi network? Mine is in the roof and I am in no mood to climb in there anytime soon.

Create a second SSID with the same name and password as the old WiFi

Your CBi astute? The one who's packaging insert said not to be mounted in roofs? :)

Yeah.... spent 4h with Home Assistant and Tuya Local which was the most painful thing ever made do these people not understand the concept of modularity and making something to just work lol.

In the end its less effort just to run a backup 5G connection on my router should my internet go down i have a redundant connection to drive the system from the cloud.

I am in the process of moving my smart switches to a dedicated IoT wireless network and unfortunately that would not achieve my goal.

I have two smart isolators in roof for the geysers I have. Protected from the elements of course. ;)

Funny enough was without internet due to a fibre break in my neighborhood for 5 days, was able to toggle my CBI just fine on the local network and the schedules ran just fine. The only thing i was unable to do was view the electrical consumption and view the controls outside of the LAN.

Perhaps they've ran an update to allow schedules to stay on the RAM of the device, never did try to see what would happen if I power cycled during no connectivity if it would stop responding. Mind you I had rebooted the Router several times and I don't yet run a static IP to my CBI.

Was just happy that I didn't need to bridge it.

I was in the same boat. But lucky for me, mine was converted to run tasmota. Was as simple as connecting to the devices and update the wifi details. I guess thats a bit late now and also, probably not as easy for everyone.

I ended up climbing in the roof this afternoon to enable pairing mode for the two smart switches. Not changing wireless networks again anytime soon. It is nasty up there.

Can the community suggest a simple device functionally similar to the attached image and software, capable of power/current monitoring as in the image below?

Does the hardware and software support plots/graphs as in my message? In intros, I didn't see anything like this. If it does can you publish the screenshot?

I don't have it myself, so can't tell you if it plots graphs or not. If you're using home assistant everything plots graphs.

They all do - slightly different though.

Even if they look the same and come in an identical box, they could differ. I bought plugs from Geewiz and then from somewhere else a few weeks later … and the differ.

Here is one :

Another looks like the below - but they at least do the same thing with regards to power monitoring
