Cctv display problems

I have a cctv connected to my TV. Plays image without issue.

But connected via a vga bnc converter to an old pc monitor. Wanted a dedicated display.

Worked a few days. Then got a bluescreen. When moving power connector it would show for few seconds an image.

Reconnected power connection as I thought it was loose.

Image displays on tv but on monitor still only a few seconds and then monitor displays a blue screen.

Is the monitor dead? Power connection fine for TV, so power cable stable.

Any ideas why monitor shows a blue screen?
 
Bad BNC connector. Move it around and see f the pic flickers and comes back. A photo of the BNC/VGA convertor would be interesting, especially a pic of the BNC connector showing the centre pin.
 
The video signal level via the adaptor is too low to enable the video circuit to synchronise. Look at the suggestion above
 
Bnc direct in tv perfect.

Bnc into adapter then vga to monitor the crazy part. So BNC ok?

But will take photo and see.
 
I took out bnc to take photos.

Large image the VGA convertor plug to the monitor.

Small image jack convertor into TV.

After plugging back into convertor, I moved around and suddenly monitor displays.

Eish, now I live in fear of moving the wires

Think so? Power cable from CCTV to tv. Dont think any NVR was installed.

Using 2 wyzes as well. Bought the outdoor cases. But plans to buy more on hold. Exchange rate too crazy.
 
El cheapo BNC connector. The bane of the older systems.
Very few are aware that there are 2 grades of BNC connectors. One for 75 Ohm cables and the other for 50 Ohm cables. the difference is in dia of the inner conductor pin. The 75 Ohm one the dia if the inner pin is smaller then the 50 Ohm version.
That is the key reason. Then the quality of the locating mechanism on the outer conductor is the next issue. A proper BNC connector will hold the connector firmly in place when it is mated. If you can wiggle it around then the connector is poor, which, unfortunately, accounts for 99% of the el cheapo knock offs on the market. Especially on converters from VGA to BNC etc.

The original standard for BNC was 50 Ohm. The 75 Ohm version was a later "innovation"

different BNC connectors have different inner diametres

Got it at HD cabling. Dont think they have a different option

Checking and doesn't as if it wiggles per se but inner looks thinner than convertor jack in TV. So chances are you may be right?

Will have to set up some cable management to minimise movement
 
Its got a twist to hold it tight. So will try heatshrink, when I can get it.

Might it be monitor? Its an old pc monitor or the VGA connection.

Screen blue again. Eish.

Yes, twist-lock the BNC connector before shrinking the heat shrink over the works.

The monitor might have deteriorated but the reason is the low incoming voltage and a bad connector will result in signal loss = a blue screen
The only way out is to solve the connection problem. Does the PC Monitor have only a VGA input? Does the Recorder have only a BNC output? You could try a conversion from BNC to F-type - VGA. It si a bastard. I have a very old CCTH recorder that I am trying to get to work for a friend and the issues have been all about the connections -- between the cameras and the recorder and between the recorder and a TV or monitor. I have managed to replace the HDD but still messing around with the connections. The LD got in the way.

I notice the screen turns blue at night. Could it thus be that the monitor cant handle the infra red image?

Its stable during the day.

Are you sure the cameras are set up propperly. Mine, Provision have settings which are changable on the camera wire. there is a settings button.

Hi

Yep play perfectly during the day and on the tv.

But on monitor I notice monitor becomes blue after sunset.
 
Changed to a more modern monitor. Still becomes a bluescreen at sunset when I assume the infrared kicks in.

Yet when connected to the tv, infrared image all clear.
