Anybody here clued up on these things?

Buying from the chinese is the cheapest, but trying to figure out how the motion sensor works etc etc.

i have had to replace my DVR because my first one is stuffed - not sure why or how...

got another one - but man this one is sooooo different - the thing that gets me is it has a remote config and a local config????????????????????????? wtf

i just want to set it up so if it detects anything - it records...i thought i had it but it aint working...its so complex and the manual not easy to understand...

There must be some guru's out here.....oh and please don't ask what make and model - its from the chinese - its a no-name brand!!! There is no make or model...

You're not giving much info for people to assist you with. Perhaps take some pictures of the DVR, the box and the setup screens, and post them here.

Maybe someone will recognize it and have had experience with it. Or do a reverse image search on the pics you take, and see if anything useful pops up on Google.

What operating system is it running? Windows, Linux or something custom? If you can explore the filesystem you might be able to get the name and manufacturer of the DVR, which will be a good starting point.

Also check if there is a Help -> About screen somewhere, which will give you info about the software.

Agree with Saajid. Unfortunately, because it is a no-name brand, without a model number / make / picture, there is absolutely no way anyone can help.

I used to work with these things and let me tell you that no 2 different makes work the same way. Sure they have the same functions, motion recording, scheduling, etc. but you will NEVER find the settings in the same place.

There MUST be a brand / model number somewhere...

From extensive experience in this area, they're typically all Linux based, and usually HiSilicon chipsets.
Cost in China is about RMB200 for a 4 port unit these days.

The DVR software is in the "recorder". Not much to configure really. You have one with a mouse?

Or you have a card in a PC, and some crappy windows software? (older systems)

Usually its a matter of logging in as admin / 123456 (or similar, I don't have one handy to look at), and configuring.
If you can take a photo of the unit I can probably help.
