Can someone please tell me what I need to buy to keep my cctv on during loadshedding... Someone cut out wire to our gate and stole some stuff our the garden.

It must have happened during loadshedding Friday night because I've run through all the footage before that and after that up until right now and don't see anyone coming or going.

This is annoying. Knowing someone was on our property and cctv couldn't do anything...

I bought one of these a few years back, runs my CCTV (Hik vision 8 camera setup) system, basic wireless alarm and the screen for the CCTV for about 6 hours. Also use it to keep phone charged and laptop etc. Where I now have a problem is the networks go down after about 30-60 minutes if there is load shedding so then my CCTV can no longer alert me to movement.

Most of us are running a Mecer 1200va or 2400va Inverter. Costs between 5 and 10k with the batteries, well worth every single cent.

I bought mine in March 2019...Cost R4500.....They (GeeWhiz) seem to be doing well with pricing, only R500 more two years on....

Agree
GeeWhiz has 100% positive reviews from what I have seen so far over the last few years. For the 5 to 10k price range there is nothing out there that I would touch. If budget is 10 to 20k then I will go a lithium battery option.

Option 1: R5000 battery lasts 2 years.
Option 2: R7500 battery lasts 20 years.

You mentioned your networks go down... Is that because of this mecer inverter?

Well it will cost more with stage 4 as the batteries take a knock

No, Its because of some very sticky fingers in the population:laugh:

Unfortunately back up batteries are pretty much a thing of the past for the network operators so when load shedding starts, the networks fail.

My batteries are taking a knock now, the Mecer has not finished charging when the next loadshedding starts again.

How do I work out how much VA my cctv cameras use? I've got 4 channels, dvr and a TV connected. TV not really that important to be connected, it's more the cameras itself.

This dman loadshedding is costing me more than anything else

Oh yes, I noticed that too and had forgot to ask.

Yeah, what wire was cut to your gate?
I'm trying to find the correlation between the cut wire, her not being able to see anything on the footage, and her need for backup power
