CELL © 21 Mbps Network here! ... almost

Seems like Telkom need to start using RAU as a pool to employ future employees.. :D

You guys do know that most SA Universities have their fiber to the seacom cable. DFA doing most of the work.

Its lovely reading their new starter packs that they rolled out to stores beginning of august..

Clearly under the heading "Mobile Broadband"

Mobile internet from Cell C Is powered by our new generation mobile broadband technology (GPRS/EDGE/HSPA+)

What a bunch of liars to be honest with you, they shouldn't of even launched their new brand image if things weren't in place at first. EpicFail for Cell C have to say.

I just got a call from a lady from cell C for the query i logged with telltrevor.co.za.
If whatever the lady said is to be believed then the service will only be launched in 2 months time.
But i dont believe her. I think they are playing safe in case if something goes wrong in testing.
But one positive thing is that i got response from telltrevor.co.za, they are serious about customer service.

Hi have just called one of the cell c shops in cape town and asked when they will be receiving the starter packs. The guy to me they are expecting a shipment next week. I've asked him to take down my details and to keep one for me, which he did. Can't believe i will be paying R83.25 for 2 gigs :-) Calculate: 999 divided by 12 = 83.25 for 2gigs

Eventhough the lady said they will be launching in 2 months, i am still hoping it to be launched next week.

According to Cell C in westgate they not expecting anything until the middle of September

Tell Trevor told us that the initial package specials will be:

2GB per month for 12 months
+4g device
R999 once off

and

5GB per month for 12 months
+4g device
R1999 once off

The service is supposed to be available from 1st September but only available off their existing 1300 towers.

It looks like they will limit it to 21Mbps although the technology is capable of 80Mbps

Did the people from cell c told you about the 1st September date or are you assuming that they will launch on 1st?

Ya those speedtest records are probably the cell C engineers testing the sites, so only one user per cluster...

I really hope they up there data bundle sizes 5gigs is a little on the small side, maybe 10 or 15 gigs would be better to get the full benift of such high speed internet. If they had a 15gig package, even if it was a bit more expencive I would pay the extra just so that I wouldnt have to deal with telskum any more.

Lets hope its the 1st Sept 2010.
3GB for R999 ;) sounds better.
