Cell C 5G launch imminent

After reading an article in February with Cell C stating they will do mass 5G activations from the second quarter of 2025, the other day I had to go to a shop in an lower income area close to Gordon’s Bay and to my surprise noticed that I was getting 5G signal from my Cell C sim.

I have since checked all around the Helderberg and Stellenbosch areas, but nothing. Only in this one street where the shop was located did I get 5G.

As this is the last network in SA to activate 5G please share your findings if any until a full launch takes place.

I am somewhat excited by this prospect as Cell C is using both MTN and Vodacom and busy implementing MOCN currently, meaning basically it chooses the best signal between Vodacom and MTN and this could propel them to the top if the big two allows it.

I had full signal and got meh speeds but I am sure it is still in testing and hopefully launching soon.
