Ok, so last week I bought the 5gig bundle and got the black modem.

After using it at work ( which is right next to a tower) it worked flawlessly and fast.

Getting back home I got severe disconnections and drop in speed access.

This is when I noticed the stick was hot, really hot, almost untouchable, so out of curiosity I opened my computer case, plugged in a small 8cm fan and let it hang out with the power cable and blow air on the modem, it reduced the warmth significantly.

My modem has been stability connected and working on HSPA+ (not the fastest I know, but I'm far away from a capable tower).

I get around 1.5mbps download speeds with low latency and reliability.

Now this isn't the ideal solution, but it does work. I would recommend people to try it at least temporarily :p.

I came across this threat looking for a similar solution to the problem : /

I have the so called latest Cell C speedstick=****!!!!!!!!

I have the ZTE MF 668

It sucks the first time I used it it lasted about 6min then disconnected. I went to the Cell C store and the guy there said no there must be a virus on my pc so I went to a IT and he said there is no virus on se they tested it there for 10min and it worked fine.

When I got home I played games for an our almost then it disconnected and kept on doing that the new stick is worse than the old one my opinion is do not buy it unless you love EDGE connection.

I disconnected 3 times while tiping this.

Good day D34tH

what OS are you using ?
Try setting it to HSDPA on lock it on that.
Most of the time the DC happens with the handshaking of the towers then drops, due to loss of signal.
Please try and PM for further assistance

Cell C has expired 8ta Sim will not connect

Hi All,
Was really hoping someone could lend a helping hand!

Thankfully my 5Gig Cell C speedstick deal has come to an end and I would really like to make the move to 8ta. So before doing that I purchased a prepaid sim card so that I could check the signal strength in my area before committing to the 10 Gig deal.

For some reason its not just as simple as putting in the 8ta sim card, I have spent endless hours on the phone with 8ta trying to find out why it will not connect to a network?! 8ta is adamant that the cell c firmware which is on the modem is the problem but there is absolutely no way of removing the firmware from the modem and CellC is adamant that they do not block their modems.

I simply want to remove the firmware and place the 8ta firmware on the modem to eliminate this possible problem.

Thanks in advance

This is not true.

There is no such thing as a Cell-C firmware or an 8ta firmware. You do get different dashboards, but the Cell-C dashboard will not prevent you from using an 8ta SIM.

That is correct, the firmware on the stick is the firmware from the manufactures Huawei / ZTE.
All we do is load our customer Dashboard on to it.
You can use different sim in it, and can use MDMA as a dashboard.
