I bought my black dongle today at about 1pm, came home tested it, was getting some decent speeds. avg 4mb dwnld and 1mb upload, (which isnt near 21mbps tho :?)..

anyway i was using it 2nyt nad it was VERY SLOW... like less then 8kbs slow.... sometimes it would be fast but most of the time very slow... and sometimes wont connect..

Is any1 else experiencing such problems? is the network doing work or what going on, coz i just bought it and already have problems... not very good start... im in East London

First of all, welcome to the forums!

Not having any problems on my side... double check your signal, try a few spots around the house and see if that helps at all. If not, call Cell C and tell them about it.

Thanks..

My signal was -81bb or dd or whatever... its on and fast for like a minute, then slow or just not downloading anymore... when it is on and i do a speed test at best i can get 900kbs, but this afternoon i got 4mb, and my PC is in the same place as this afternoon...

My gf was on the net using the speedstick for like a hour while i was at soccer, from about 5:30 t0 6:30 pm and she said there was no problem at all...

my 384kbs line that i have till the end of the month runs far smoother and stable than this speedstick so far....

Hi Dre21

That doesn't sound good, send us your contact details on [email protected] and we will get our Network Team to contact you.

Sent them a mail last night, waiting for a response

Don't hold your breath. I was told I would be contacted on Monday and am still waiting. 1 more day to go and I'm forced to return the modem before the 7 days are up.

ya best thing is, im calling the customer service centre for the last hour now, and they take forever to anwser, then i tell them the problem they say we guna transfer u to a technician... then i wait for like 15mins no1 anwsers... its very VERY poor service so far... im very close to going back to the shop i bought it at and throwing a huge fit... My 384kbs ADSL line makes this so called "so fast" internet look like a joke....

I just realised the most annoying thing about this thing is Trever Noah's voice...... listening to is while holding is causing me to go insane...

ur... they will phone you back on another number (Did you even discuss it or did you just get very angry at a guy just doing his job to try and help you? ). They phoned me back on my MTN cellphone number and troubleshooted the problem while my bundle stick was in my dongle and in my PC.

Feeling your pain, dre21 and scoperzor!

Thanks to ginggs I have resolved the issue of my connection getting stuck on EDGE using the MDMA. That issue aside it would seem most of us with problems all relate to reception.

Unfortunately I am using this service with my desktop PC so I'm not afforded the convenience of moving around to find better reception. Also, the USB extension I bought to solve this crashes my cell C software so no luck there. (eish bru). I'm assuming my only other option now is to buy an antenna to hopefully achieve the kinds of speeds advertised. Currently I'm only getting around 1Mbps at best and it's often short lived. My downloads hover around the 100kbps mark. Better than 384...but certainly not what was promised.

It would be great if we could create a troubleshooting thread purely for desktop users?

@Dre - You can ask them to call you back on another number, as MuffinMan stated. I also had to phone them on my Cell C sim and disconnect my modem to do so. However I still have the problem of them promising to call me and update me on the situation, which hasn't happened yet.

@nothief - I get access to HSPA+ anywhere I try using my modem (Randburg, Fourways, etc...) but regardless of this my signal strength does not go much above 20%. I can't even browse websites. So I don't think my problem is the same as yours, I think mine is a faulty modem.

Also still waiting for them to come back to me on my email.
I am very frustrated with this. I have between 92 and 97% signal strength. I will download a file at 4mb/s and suddenly it just starts dropping till zero and then seems to wake again after about half a minute picking up speed again if my download did not time out in the meantime.

Yep i asked them to call me on another number, they said no they cant they too busy.... It seems to be running now but it is very slow... avg a normal telkom 384k speed atm, and still dc every no and again..
