Cell C cuts prepaid, contract prices

Probably have to wait until contract renewal?

You'll most likely stay on the old pricing. Which is fair

Completely fair.

Its just a question that wasn't initially answered :)

Also means I will hold off for a week or two on getting my stuff moved to CellC, just so that I can see what the contracts entail.

Post paid customers take it up the arse again.

I swear I will never get another contract! loyalty buys you sweet **** all in this industry.

Easier said than done - if you're rich enough to buy any phone with cash outright, postpaid's the way to go if you want a new phone...

I don't need an S5 or an iPhone5S. A budget smartphone is ideally suited to my needs. I don't need all the fancy gadgets. Just needs to be quick enough ( dual core) and have a decent screen.

Waiting for Gulio's anti cell c comments... ;)

He needs a while first,to wipe away the shock/horror/tears at the emergency MTN meeting called up after this announcement.:D

These rates are great,I hope they are sustainable,I for one would be sad to see Cell C going down.Glad I've cancelled my wife's contract and put her on prepaid....although I think the supacharge works better for her anyway. So probably wont change her to this.

Keen to see these new contracts, mine expires later this year, but the 99c rate on contract is still unmatched by the other networks so I'm not complaining just yet.:)

Its a balancing act...

PrePaid gets a benefit because the money is in their account regardless of whether you use the product or not, PostPaid means I can abuse the product and then not pay...

You have to price in the risk aspect.

You could always get the phone and choose a cheap contract, then get yourself a new prepaid sim card and use the contract sim for emergencies.

I am in the process of porting to MTN prepaid
Looks like I may have to stop the process and change to Cell C

Only concerns I have with Cell C are both voice and data coverage
My son is on Cell C and very really gets anything better then Edge

OK, so I guess I'll stay right where I am. Cellc data price is already very low, but the 3g network quality seriously needs improvement. Been stuck on 2g at office now for the second day.

AKC said a while ago that 99c was just the first shot in the battle. I'm sure Santos just needed a shareholder meeting to get back on track. He waited for MTN and VC to commit and then responded.

Spare a thought for us poor suckers still stuck on an MTN contract - almost R2/minute!

The idea of prepaid is really making sense - I just need a way of recording costs for tax purposes.

What Cell C is missing now is a smartphone contract on the new scheme - I need the handset subsidy and the promo monthly bundle added

Good point.

I'm not complaining,I will wait and see what they announce first but I can imagine the straight up contracts will probably still offer more value with the included data etc. Also no other network offers these kinds of contract rates even after over a year.

Im not anti Cell C, im against their industry behaviour.

I cant figure out how they got to those numbers yet. 79c is fair and we've seen it before.
66c voice is a bit strange though.

Sustainable, possibly. I believe this is standard pricing and not a promotion.

Awesome! Now pleaseeeee sort out your network so that I can switch over ASAP! :D

Prepaid FTW. Well done CellC , and also those month to month contracts are good
