Cell C data promotions also get extension

If these service provider can provide these promotions for an extended period why they don't make them standard?

I find it amusing how the marketing people think up excuses for the promotion to continue :P

Come on guys, face it, it was MARKET PRESSURE!

I think that would have sounded even better :P

Some others have mentioned that any permanent offerings need to be approved by a regulatory body and promotions don't. It's to save on admin if that info is correct.

EXACTLY!!! And i have been asking the same for the past 18 months or so,but it seems.....

Because then they need to file the pricing with ICASA etc ... Basically by running pricing as promotions they manage to circumvent all sorts of regulations (not sure which but look at consumer protection, interconnect. USAF contributions and minimum service). Think of promotional pricing as the "norm" as similar to labour brokers - a reaction to a failing regulatory system. IIRC the pricing that is regular pricing must remain the same for a year. Telkom now has to get approval from ICASA on their tariff proposal even though a lot of their coming to the party hasn't worked its way into the tariff - - meaning that either promotional announcements will be coming or ICASA won't accept the tariffs (which really isn't ideal)

Now this would be great if their data network actually worked:mad:

So their 500mb and 1gb packages are the same price as Vodacom?
After all the cellc complaints I would just go with Vodacom.

Probably a safer bet, however any person buying something like this should always buy a pay as you go sim, and do some tests first - the networks perform differently in different places.

Its a good thing there are extending their data promotions but in the mean time they should focus on fixing their network too, ;)
