Cell C Epic FAIL whooshing!

My girlfriend recently bought the 24gb WHOOSH Cell C modem kit in hope she could finally have fast and reliable internet access.According to the Map Coverage her Area (Newlands West in Dbn) was covered completely.

Sadly though since 6days ago when she got it shes been experiencing CONSTANT disconnects (like 30x a day) and speeds of a world class 20kbps..

It has frustrated us both beyond repair.. we cant even get a hold of a technical consultant to help us when dailing 140 there is NO options to get the right help from the right person,as it seems to be a secret that u must press 8 to get in contact with Technical..

I honestly dont know what Cell C is trying to achieve by advertising like crazy about something thats suppose to be so wonderful yet it can even remain connected let alone provide even HALF of the speeds it claims it does..

Will be returning it tomorrow no doubt,perhaps another mobiles 3G network will be more reliable albeit the crazy cost of data..

In summary my logs whoosh faster from my anus to the pan then Cell C's HSPA network:D! Bitterly disappointed!:(
 
Prepare for a huge 'handling fee' when returning the modem. Just another way Cell C can rub your face in it.

Being the last week of the month, is it not possible that people were downloading like mad before their caps reset.... those that had data left, of course. Just a theory.

I can't say, as I was capped on the 21st already, and had no inclination to load more data.

You need to move around with your modem, I have dead spots in my house and certain areas with fantastic speeds, really fast, so you must just find the best spot. I found that with a router I can place the modem in the best permanent spot, if I connect direct to laptop I battle.
 
welcome to the great CellC disconnectwork, just read through the CellC forums, you'll find you're not alone.
 
So i returned the product,it was purchased from CNA and it appears they have had many returns. Just be aware that they may try and hit with a handling Fee or say that they will only refund you if it tests faulty once the tech deprtment checks it.. if you are within the 7day return period, u MAY return it if you not satisfied with the speeds or reliability of it irrespective of whether its faulty. Also No handling fee should be levied. Read the Daily News today,Wendy Knowler speaks of an interesting situation regarding Cell C's Whoosh products,all the same really, they just cant deliver on the promises..

i'm also using a router and have had no problems. it sucks that it cant just work when you connect directly to the pc though....
