Ok so I've been having this problem since I bought this phone.

I bought a Samsung S5 on contract from Cell C and from day 1, the phone has been giving a network issue.

The phone says "Not Registered on Network" at least 5 times a day.
I've tried with roaming on and off, I've manually selected a provider and the only way I manage to fix the problem is to restart the phone.

I went to Cell C Tyger Valley and I was told to go to Samsung because they dont know what to do and they wouldnt do a sim swap.
The guy even told me that he had only been working there for a month so he doesnt know what to do.
Instead of him calling someone who knows what to do, he just sent me away to Samsung who then couldnt fix the problem.

This is my work phone, I'm tired of this problem, I need a fix fast before I move over to vodacom because I dont get this issue with their sim cards.

At this rate, Cell C is turning into telkom a "best effort service" who have no idea what customer support is.

I've tried hellopeter to only be ignored, ive gone in store to only be turned away.

Maybe I should also get a banner made.

Getvtgem to swop it out as an obf (out of box failure) and get a brand new sealed phone instead.

Did you check for same issue using vodacom or MTN sim in the phone c?

Dont waste your time with cell c, i have been with them over 6 years and im waiting for my contract to end and im moving to a new network. My phone is also giving me the unregistered sim error and it started a few months after i did an upgrade. The internet is crappy and usually times out ,calls drop quite often and the data doesn't last, I suppose you get what you pay for. I took an MTN contract as a backup cause of these endless issues, i bolt on the same amount of data and it lasts me a full month with MTN and that includes using it as a hotspot for the Cell c phone and my pc at home. If cell c dont fix their issues i am definitely moving networks

Yeah I'm also getting not registered on network / 0 data / 0 signal at times. Tbh I'm simply waiting until my airtime is finished then will be porting us over to Telkom.

Went into the Cell C shop in the waterfront since I was getting 0.01Mb/s down in the mall suddenly in store I get 11Mb/s down guy tells me he can do a network investigation ONLY if I have at least 2 contracts with Cell C.

So yeah I'd suggest terminating your contract on grounds of clear non performance and move on.

That investigation story is what they always saying, so if you have 2 contract you are worth helping??? Thats just poor service

Yup and considering that I am not only getting poor speeds there but at home at work etc how would a network investigation help!

I was going to escalate to the CellC rep but at this stage I honestly couldn't be bothered. Oh something else that came out was "you get what you pay for" with reference to prepaid.

Was honestly a bit shell shocked at that, I mean yeah be disillusioned with your own brand but really!

Please PM your number and alternative number, we will diagnose the problem. *DM*

ALL of the network operators are struggling with sites going off air during the power outages, some sites have old batteries that dont last the full 4-6 hr outage and some have had the batteries stolen.

Agreed! I have about 10 Dropped calls a day! And it is really unprofessional as a business owner

I've had the not registered problem since I got my S4. I did a sim swap, even sent the phone in. Stopped using it with a cover as that seemed to help the signal but still get the same issue. Basically this number is useless if you need to get hold of me as most of the time it goes to voicemail and I get it much later. My phone works fine when I travel and use the relevant local sim.

I have a similar problem. Calls dropping mid-call, and basically every call I make, goes to "Call Ended" the first time, and I have to redial.

I've the same problem. I had an Android upgrade on my Samsung. From then on my phone would stop being connected on voice and data without warning. Sometimes I can select Cell C as the service provider, and it tells me it's "Registering" and then "Registered", other times it would just hang on "Registering" for a long while and then the message just disappears. Alternatively I can just restart the phone and it works for a while again. The phone can then continue working for ten minutes or for a couple of hours and then it just drops off again. I've had the same problem with my previous phone, where Cell C blamed everything from my phone to the network. When I got a new Sim card it just came right. I've repeatedly been told I need to get a new Sim card, without anyone being able to tell me why this problem occurred after an update, and why this supposedly faulty Sim card works for a while after restarting.

I suspect there is something wrong with Cell C's network management software and my subscriber data has become corrupt when the phone restarted after the upgrade. Clearly Cell C's system does something to deregister my phone. When I have had a Sim swap the records are updated on the network database and then the phone works again.

Why can't Cell C let us know what the problem is, and send each branch information how to correct this?

I am so angry with my missed calls, my next recourse will be Hellopeter...
