Cell C R89 for 1.2GB ad misleading: ASA

Maybe the consumer doesn't know what the 100MB x 12 means? In which case s/he probably wouldn't know the difference between 100MB and 1GB either.

Anyway, I disagree with the ASA ruling here.

He/she was too lazy to read. Damn it 30% pass mark

I fully agree with the ruling.
Cell-C are mixing quite a few things, not just the units of measurement. In the top and bottom package, the data amount is the same as the title of the bundle. The middle one varies from this. No wonder a customer was confused.

Disagree with the ruling! Clearly indicates 100MB x 12

SA babying these "grown ups"! :p

Seriously. Some people... :erm:

The plaintiff would have to be a retard to misunderstand that ad.

Hey, maybe it was Julias.
The thing about ads is that people shouldn't be mislead when they glance at them. Cell-C knows this, and they are probably not surprised at the result. It's like the up to 50% signs where you don't notice the 'up to' because they didn't want you to.

Not all their customers are technical like many members of this forum are.

Funny that the plaintiff would go through all the trouble for R89?

Because clearly understanding 100*12 is limited to IT....

My wife's not technical at ALL, and she gets it at first glance.

This thread is hilarious :p, esp rationalizing the inability of people to read 100MB x 12 IN A COLUMN on the right! So did the customer also miss the price in the same size lettering in the middle column as well?

Tell us why the x12 was so small.

My eyes are too well trained for this.

PS. It is possible to buy those redbull 200 x 12(months) at R50 and have them activated at later dates so that you can store em?
