Cell C speed in Constantia

I have purchased Cell C's 60 GB package. One of the reason for my decision is the 21mbps speed stick.
In my office reception was poor so I have installed a Poynting High gain antenna kit with 7m cable and adapter ( www.poyntingdirect.co.za/c22/Antennas.aspx )
I have positioned the antenna using the MDMA software recommended by Poynting. ( www.nerve.org.za/mdma/)

However I am getting very poor speed results. Every so often the download speed might peak at 7mbps, but the norm is around 350 kbps

It doesnt sound bad to me, its faster and cheaper than adsl.

My mate John in Jhb cant get better than 35kbps with Vodacom and the same antenna.

general note: when positioning the antenna, be sure to keep the antenna in a position for at least 30seconds since the signal feed is not instantaneous. What type of signal strength are you getting?

LAC: 41
RAT: varies between 3G and HSPA+

It seems your signal strength is pretty good (-61dBm), is it consistent? The RAT does vary between 3G and HSPA+.
Do a couple of speedtest (www.speedtest.net) and see how you are comparing to others (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/258764-Cell-C-Speed-Test-Results).

My RSSI in Rondebosch: -79dBm, (far worse than yours) and I am getting around DL:5-6Mbps, UL: 2Mbps.

Clearly the tower's line is highly contended or there's a config problem. Log a fault with Cell C or return the modem and get the slower one (you have 7 days).
