Cell C trickery

So, yesterday I receive a call from a Cell C representative. I am due for an upgrade, but have not done it as they do not have any device that I am currently interested in.

So I tell this person, I will go for the Sony Experia Z3, not the The BlackBerry Z3, and not the compact, and stated I know they do not offer this device at the moment.

The person then checks "his system", and says, they do have the Z3, not the compact but the bigger version. The conversation goes on, during which I ask a few times if he is sure that it is not the compact, and he confirms that it is not. We go ahead, he reads some of the phone specs, 5.2" screen etc (the Compact has 4.6"). And so the deal is done, receive the e-mail for confirmation.

Looking at the details, it states that the phone that will be dispatched, is the Z3 compact.

Contacted Cell C immediately, advised them of this, and I was then transferred between a bunch of departments. I am eventually told that the delivery has been stopped, but I need to phone back the next day to cancel the upgrade, as the code cannot be entered into the system more than once. I found this strange and inquired further, eventually gave up and said I will call the next day.

Today I go ahead and call back, have to explain the same story to 2 different people, and again I am told that the couriers already have the device, and that they will need to stop it, I can phone back later this afternoon to find out about cancelling. I told them that I was told the exact same thing yesterday, And I will no longer phone around based upon trickery by one of their Telephone sales agents, which is most likely outsourced to a marketing company.

So not sure what to do now, but I will never renew, or even consider another Cell C contract after this experience.

Get the recording go to.the shop ply the original recording done deal, fck em go to vodacom

Thanks. Yes, I will request the recordings for the calls. Vodacom seems like a good option, have one contract with them and have not had such issues, just a bit more expensive but I can live with that.

Courier pitched up here, I immediately asked him to return to sender. Contacted them again and advised that is what I did, and asked for the recordings. According to them, I can go listen to the recording in the store, but they may not send the actual recording to me, which I also find strange, but not sure in terms of laws.

So now I just need to wait until they receive the package and it will automatically be cancelled, or so they say.

Service @ a store is 10 million times better than the call centre idiots who does sales.

Uphrade took me 15mins a few weeks ago. Got the device I wanted... no drama no hassle and was advised by salesperson to go for the hybrid to avoid OOB Sharkism and control my spend.

I suppose it is possible the store I use is a franchise? The manager hiring non idiots there?

Yea possible, but my fair share worcester, canal walk, Stellenbosch and some malls in joburg was enough to understand why we as south Africans must resort to banners and public humiliation

I had my issues with callcentre... and with network issues. Last few months though not one call drop not one 3g issue...decent contract now.

Just a pity about the bundle price increase.

My one and only vodacom contract via online sales... they sent me 3 S4 that arrived about 2 days apart... and i struggled for 3 months to get them to admit they recieved them back from the courier. They also tried to bill me accordingly during that 3 months. 6months in they refused to let me migrate to Uchoose flexi 200... wanting to charge me a migration fee of almost 3000rand...

2 months ago had a huge arguement about OOB charges etc they suggeated migration... which was done free... so who is bull ishtting?

I usually, as a rule do not even listen to sales pitches via phone calls, just said I am not interested to the first 3 calls prior to this one, after stating that I know that they do not have the device I want. Not sure what this guy was trying to pull, maybe just get soem commission out and hope I open the box before I realise it is the wrong phone. luckily I read the qoutation that was e-mailed after the phone conversation.

My in store experiences with cell c ranges from good to strange. Strange being, I asked what processor the device had, and received the response "Android Jelly bean". After 3 times of trying to explain I do not want to know what OS it is I just gave up. This could, and probably does happen at stores from all the cell providers though.

wont be surprised if Cell C is going to do that dick move from here

and say "we reserve the right to change the handset at our will"

I would not be surprised either.
