Cell C trying to poach Vodacom users???

You shouldn't feel sorry for her. They won't feel the same about you. They only out for the sale, remember!

+1

There is no need to be polite to telemarketers. They abuse the expectations of civility on which society functions. And just as criminals should lose their right to vote when they flout the laws of the land, so too should telemarketers lose the right to be treated with civility when their modus operandi is based on an abuse of that very societal expectation of politeness.

A bit off topic, but I got another call yesterday. This time someone offered me life insurance. So very politely I told him no thank you, I already have.

Then instead of gracefully accepting defeat and hanging up he had the audacity to tell me no, I need other life insurance. At that point I just hung up on him.

Who is he to tell me that I need a different product when he does not even know what I really have?

Cheeky b@stard!

OK, so who has suggestions on how to play with these people?

Leaving the phone on the desk while they rattle off their pitch is amusing.

Listening to the pitch for 10min, building up steam then having a rant is also quite satisfying...

Any other ideas? Maybe try to get the sales chick into a steamy conversation:D
Have ur earphones handy and play them a little something, maybe something from your elevator music collection.

No wait, I've got it, record the Telkom helpline music that plays when in the queue. Then u've got a nice little weapon of irritation right there, yesiree bob :D

Lol i think they have access to your credit record.... corpirations are EVIL! if you stay out of dept everybodys got an offer....

For sure :)

Got a call from Virgin Mobile this morning. The caller was fortunate enough that i heard him out with VM's wonderful offer as I was in a decent enough mood. I put him on speaker phone while i was getting ready for work and gelling my hair, then told him sorry no thanks i just renewed a contract with MTN :D

Then he asked me don't i want a phone for the wife, to which i replied I don't have one (a wife that is)! But maybe I should have asked him if a wife comes with the 24 month contract :p

I know of vodacom customers being conned by cell c.Eventualy when the vodacom contract expires its cancelled. The customer stays with cell C.Vodacom loose a customer.....Vodacom smell the coffee and stop selling our numbers to other companies. You are loosing customer this way

I usually make like I'm interested (trick: every now and then repeat a word of what they are saying) then at the end of the pitch when they ask if I have any questions about their "product" I ask:

1. On what floor of the building are you?

2. If floor in 1 is not very high ask if they have roof access

3. Are you near a window?

4. Well go jump through it/ off it (depending on answer to previous questions) cos lowlife scum like telemarketers and lawyers don't deserve to breath the same air as us humans so do us all a favour and die!

I did it wit an insurance salesman and never heard from them again.

Another way is to "listen" to their pitch then ask for a team leader or another agent... see how many times you can get them to repeat their pitch then use the above.

the best is to flip it around, and ask whether they are interested in signing up for a personal trainer/dog walker/vending stand business/etc - telemarket them!

Brilliant, yeah. Try to pitch them timeshares or Herbalife or something :p

The last Cell C (or was it V.Mobile) telemarketer trying to give me a free phone was literally reading off his script in that rehearsed voice that they use. Then, whenever he diverted from the script, his accent changed completely and I could barely understand him :p I was quite bemused, he was trying so hard :p

Say to the telemarketer, "I already have a contract, but my dog doesn't, would you like to speak to him?" Then bark into the phone.
I've got a desktop shortcut to the Christian Bale F-bomb audio clip all ready but I have used it yet :o

MTN SP leaks their info too somehow! Cause I get calls from Virgin Mobile and CellC saying that they need my adress so they can send me my phone.

I asked them where they got my number. She replied on the database......?
