Cell C website security flaw uncovered

It is all for the glory and obviously making it easier for anyone wanting to open a police docket to do so without having to go through all those subpoenas  I think it is good to highlight those security flaws as any responsible company will deal with those issues properly. TBH in most cases it is relatively easy to figure out who is who (I for one know who House is)

and?

We don't want to know who he is, we just want to know if he should be accorded any credibility at all (albeit only arising from his professional title) - his personal cred here is pretty much in tatters, but...

After all, even a bad judge on the bench is still a judge; a poor attorney is still an attorney (albeit a poor one)

I would like to publicly thank Cell C for the gift they sent me. I did not report the flaw to get something out of it but I do appreciate the gift. :D

I don't feel that corporates are doing enough to protect our data. On the top of my head I can think of COJ, Afrihost, Vodacom and now Cell C. All this within six months.

Prolly has been like this for a long time. Recently we've just seen some of these exploits publicised. Before now, who knows what was exploited to what ends.

Just to update on another very cool change Cell C added.

Now when you log into the http://cellc.co.za/my-account ecare website you get a sms saying that someone logged into your account and if it was not you there is a stop number you can phone. Very cool. Its similar to what banks do when you log into your internet banking.
