Hey Guys...

Very possibly a simple question to many of you learned people, but not one I have had an answer for, even from MTN :-)

I am with MTN and in the past when you activate "cell info display" it would show the name of the cell tower u are "linked" to. Now days, however it seems to show just a percentage which varies from time to time... Currently it is showing 70% and earlier in the evening it was 30%.

Anyone know what it represents?

Thanks in advance.

"cell info display" or Broadcast messages still work just use channel 900. Not sure about the Percenatge though, it's probably the signal strength, MTN DD should be able to answer your question, just wait till tomorrow.

Mine works fine on my SE P910i, just wish I can get rid of the stupid 'Yello Broadband' slogan that pops up from time to time.

*But I do like the info display you get when at OR Tambo airport or Cape Town Int (name still the same?) - very cool! :)

They are doing a test in the Eastern Cape. I think the percentage indicates a discount you will recieve, it changes every hour.

Thanks for the info so far guys.... As useless as it may be! :)

However me thinks the bank manager one is the closest so far... more so when it gets down to the 30% range! :D

There's a way you can sign up for the discount, can't remember the activation string. Then whatever the percentage showing is, thats the discount you'll receive on MTN to MTN calls at the time. Sometimes as high as 80 or 90%.
