Yuo mean porting :)
Yes it is, if on prepaid you can port to any other network it takes about a day or so to be compelted. (whetehr you want to still be on pre paid or take it on contrct to your new network
IF on contranct your contract must be finished then you can eithetr port to prepaid then another network or port directly to the new SP.

Just need to go to your new sp service sentr to do it, ther are certain rules liek cant port if you have ported already in the same month etc.
Any airtime you have with your old sp is gone so use it up

This is funny, as there is a case in Vodacom section, where Vodacom refused to transfer number to prepaid (even contract has finished). Link:http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/404107-Change-contract-SIM-to-pre-paid?

Here legislation comes to the resque, as number is your property and they cannot refuse porting number.

No, it is incorrect that contract must be completed before porting can take place. Correct procedure is to assign different number to the contract (so your number is freed from contractual obligations), then proceede with porting. Then you must continue with contract or apply early termination, but it is separate issue.
