Morning Guys

So I have been on a Cell C contract for a couple of years because when I signed up for their contract their data was the cheapest and the pricing overall was great.

However recently I get the crappest signal, slowest speed for HSdpa or 3G imaginable and I am looking around for something else.

My gf is on MTN and her signal and 3g speeds are excellent wherever we go, so would MTN be a good option or does anyone have any other suggestions?

I had a Vodacom contract years ago and that was horrendous so I'm put off by them, but they may have gotten better?

Before we recommend anything, how many minutes, sms and data do you need ?

Well I don't mind shopping around for contracts and whatever, I just need a better service provider.

At the moment I need 200 minutes, less than 100 sms's and about 3 GB of data

TelkomFreeMe 5GB contract is R305pm, the only thing you need to add on is the minutes which is 70c/per minute, so the total cost comes to R445pm

MTN has Made for Me L for R399pm, you need to take a booster bundle of 2GB for R169pm, so total cost is R568pm

Thanks, that Info I got from their websites as well, but that wasn't really the question.

I was wondering whether the signal and 3G speeds are better on other service providers as Cell C seems to suck.

I am very hesitant to use anything from Telkom, I've had my run ins with them plenty, but if there are poeple that are happy with them then it might not be so bad

Sorry

Telkom runs off the MTN network if their own signal is non existent.

Some people say their service has improved but then you get another lot of people saying the opposite.

Well that's interesting, definitely sounds like a better option than Cell C. Thanks for the info

MTN gives me the best speeds, but can only afford it because of the R150 for 50gb deal.

I would go for telkom freeme, offer best value for money.

Had the same concerns when I was looking - best advice I can give is to get a prepaid sim card, add R100 on there and run it for a day or two to see how the signal is in the places you'll be most often - some providers seem to have deadzones and the only way to see if you're in one is to test it out

I've loved being on Telkom - good service and signal .. in fact, they had a glitch last year (honestly didn't notice because was such a busy day...) and they gave me a free gig to say sorry

He's going to pay R569pm if he includes SMS's, so he's better off going directly to MTN and getting the package I mentioned above.

I pay less than that for R200 airtime some sms's from mtn and data from Afrihost.
