Do these metal plates you add into your cover affect the phones reception at all?

Not at all. I used the plates with the original cellphone cover for a while. Then later I purchased one of those covers that have metal plate in the back and the little ring stand from Takealot. Still working pretty well. Only thing is that you need to find a relatively flat spot for the suction cup.
Edit - I just looked back at my old post now and saw that it was posted just over a year ago and at that time I was already using the holder for over year. That means I have now been using the same holder for more than 2 years already. Money well spent.

Right so I've now one of these and swapped my wireless charging holder.
It works but pretty close to the manual gearstick and also does shake a minor amount.
