So here I am using my Wooooosh/Cell C wireless internet when it decides to go offline/disconnected from the base station from about 3am, getting error 619, tried variety of dongles from white to black(No glory). Took about 1hour to be able to connect to the network, then getting disconnected. Only site loading cellc and displaying an under construction page. (Infographic) with detailed information when services will be affected etc.

To my surprise I am Highly disappointed and disgusted that CELL C never advertised or sent out sms to notify clients of such services being effected at a certain time etc.. Such services like Recharge, making calls, sms,Contact centres, were going effected during this upgrade.

No rep was on here to inform that such services will be affected, what happens if I am in a car accident, house break-in etc....

CELL C in future notify clients and sent out sms as a courtesy that way we can make other arrangements during the down time..

Yep saw one in the Saturday Star, but I do agree with the OP - sms your subscribers

Last minute 4th of Feb..........

This should of been address 1 week before.

Firstly I don't listen to the radio and secondly I don't buy the news paper and yes I didn't see that article :(

I got that message last week while using services that they'll be doing maintenance.

What services? When I phoned the Help Desk nothing like that was on the IVR, phoned them on Thursday.

I didn't check twitter as I was away from my computer and using mobile in future will have to check twitter.

Services on the dashboard, it said they'll be offline saturday and sunday.

Would have been so simple to send the HSDPA users a SMS... but no... we seem to be 2nd rate citizens on the CellC network! My dad has a phone contract, he got an email explaining everything, but not me, the 2nd rate citizen!

Only in papers yesterday & friday. No email, no sms. Bit off a short notice imo

My CellC data service have been restored, but I'm unable to make / recieve(?) any voice calls today.

When trying to make a call an automated voice wrongfully informs me I'm not RICA'ed. :-(

To be fair, you can't in your OP say they should have advertised and then confess to not exposing yourself to advertising later. I read it on myBB in the Cell C forum so I was fully aware of it. But how many people knew to do that, Cell C?

I have come to a conclusion this has something to do with "RedBull Mobile" launching this week if not mistaken - So probably they had to do the necessary updates on the network to allow a new number etc, billing, etc.

Firstly I went to CELL C website on Friday before 12:00pm, there was no mention of CELL C network having downtime, only notices appeared only after 12pm, I was listening to highveld and thier was no mention during prime-time. Firstly CELL C should of informed customers a week prior of the update...

Not leave everyone in the dark(LAST Minute) in future I will opt for future news updates/have a network status page informing using on when down time or maintenance will occur on the network cause I am totally frustrated - what happens if I am involved in a car accident, car break down, hi-jacking etc, or my mother is about to die etc. --- We living in a 21st century - If cell c allowed us to roam during that time to another network and allow us to make phone 2 phone calls or so...

This happen to me once on another network - father was in hospital and guess what they were unable to get hold of me.....
