Cellc 2GB data sim voice charges

So since I got this sim the call rate was always R1.50 per minute billing even when the 99c for real and straightup contracts were in place.

So with that rate it was not really advisable to use it for voice calls. Seems like this have changed now.........

I have my sim in a android phone for wifi hotspot and discovered that voice calls on the open 2Gb data contract is now charged @ R0.89 per minute to any network billed per second....... Very weird cause that makes it cheaper to use than the straight up voice contract.

The data deal is R99pm for a openline 2GB p/m data contract with a out of bundle rate fixed at 15c per megabyte and a call rate of R0.89 per minute billed per second that goes directly onto the usage cause your don't get free minutes.... This seem to be a way better deal. You pay for what you use in terms of calls......

It sounds good. It is not a cheapest data contract, but it gives the best balance on the single SIM card. It might be even "the best deal for smartphone users ever".

Thinking that MyBB editors might pickup this chance and convert to headlines. Or they do it only for Vodacom?

Yeah exactly what I was thinking....... it sings all the right tunes... fixed R0.15 oob rate even if you decide not to buy a extra bundle. R0.89 a minute to all networks. Pay only for what you use. I think even the 500mb or 1GB deals will be awesome.

There is 2 downsides though. No bundled sms/mms so you pay the expensive rate of 50c. Obviouslly there is no phone option cause the only device that sells with these contracts are dongles. I'm not sure if they will be able to customise a deal for you when you actually ask for it but yeah.

So its actually a great deal for a smartphone

Ok so this is what I have noticed on my 2GB open line contract for R99 per month

Voice calls to all networks anytime is charged @ R0.89 per minute.
Sms to any network anytime is charged at R0.44 per sms
MMS to any network anytime is charged at R0.88 per mms

Funny that cellc did notify any one of the change cause the callcenter doesn't know what the charges are and the website still lists it as R1.50 per minute billed per minute....
