Two years ago I ported from MTN to cellc at the time I had a iPhone 4 (sim swapped), and iMessage was working while on MTN. After the port iMessage stopped working on cellc, I also got a 4s on contract and iMessage refused to work on that device as well, at the time I wasn't worried because no one I knew had iPhones.

When the iPhone 5 came out I moved my partner to cellc as well, got her a iPhone 5 contract, gave her my 4s and I used the 5 (sim swapped) and iMessage still won't activate. About a year later we had a break in and our phones were stolen so I bought us cheap phones (so another sim swap).

When my contract was up for renewal I got a iPhone 5s (another sim swap) and iMessage still won't activate.

A few months later iOS 8 is released and with it came the functionality of sending sms's from and iPad or Mac. But for this to work you need iMessage. This is where the problem comes in, cellc does not know how to fix the problem, they have blamed everything from the hardware to software to my iTunes account and even gone as far as to blame Apple.

Today the supervisor I was talking to asked me for my iTunes account username and password, when I refused he said it would be difficult for him to help me.

One my way to work this morning I bought a MTN pre-paid sim and put that in my phone and iMessage activated, I was then told my the supervisor that I had to phone apple because it was a problem on their side, but when phoning 0800444426 I was told that iMessage problem need to be sorted out by the carrier.

Still I was told it is a hardware/software problem.

So on my way home I bought a cellc pre-paid sim and iMessage activates on that sim.

So I can only guess that the problem is my cell number. Guess the only way to get proper support is to take out anti-cellc adverts.

Oh and this fight has been going on since iOS 8.1.1 was released.

Wow.. thats not cool. My wife migrated from MTN to CellC, and I did from VC to CellC, when the Iphone5 came out or shortly thereafter. We have both had no issues with iMessage. It just works...

Have you tried the Apple store?
