So....
For some unknown reason, Vumatel cross-patched my connection with that of one of my neighbours across the park from me. I should be with CISP on a 20/2 connection, but I am currently on a CellC 20/20 link. This issue has been raised and is sitting with Vuma for rectification.
But I need to continue with my day to day life, and whilst using my neighbours CellC connection, I have found it to be rather poor in comparison to my CISP link.
I have not performed any specific test besides speed test (which is how I discovered the problem), but general consensus from the family is as follows:-
1.) Speed tests confirm that 20/20 is is the speed set up for the connection, and we get around that on both MyBB and Ookla test.
2.) Ping varies from 3ms to (would you believe at one stage) 105ms to local servers
3.) Slow responses have been noted on various sites, my son complaining that he is experiencing buffering on YouTube and some of his games, my wife complaining that Daily Mail is slow to load. Downloading for me could not be done on some sites.
4.) Generally, performance whilst browsing the interwebs seems to be erratic - some work well, others "jitter", some are just damn slow.
None of the above were ever evident on my CISP connection.
I have subsequently been in contact with my neighbour who's connection I'm apparently sharing, and he advises that all seems to be fine on his side, but he will moitor and advise if he notices any issues.
Just putting it out there -
If CellC works good enough for you, lets hope your fibre provider accidently cross patches you to someone with a CISP connection - you'll see a difference.
