I hope someone can advise me. I recently upgraded my contract at CellC and received my new LG G3.

I am in Port Elizabeth and was hoping to have LTE coverage.

Do I need to get a new LTE specific sim card in order to get LTE signal as I am still using my old one and I only get HSDPA?

Some say you need an LTE enabled sim card others say you need a 64/128k sim card. Waiting for clarity too.

Interesting do you mean no LTE in PE or CellC do not offer it at all?

nope no lte on cellc even for me in jhb

Is your LG G3 LTE enabled?
Samsung bring out 2 versions of each phone, one LTE enabled, and the other HSDPA.

You need a simcard on a LTE enabled price plan for it to work. I have the 5GB x 12 simcard that I got from Cellc and its LTE enabled but not in a LTE covered area to have tested it yet.

These are the deals that should support LTE:

This is what you have to see to be LTE enabled. You can check by logging into the cellc website.

Is there LTE coverage from Cell C in Port Elizabeth?? I doubt it though, I thought Cell C was not rolling out LTE till they sort stuff with ICASA??

Would love to have LTE in Port Elizabeth, the HSPA network here is great :)

"Over the last five months, we have rolled out 150 new base stations in Gauteng, all of which are connected with fibre backhaul. Coupled with the upgrade of our transmission equipment, which connects all base stations to our core network, customers will not only have wider coverage but much more capacity. This is also to future proof our network for the rollout of LTE. Additionally, 228 sites will be rolled out.

While the focus is primarily on Gauteng at present, the deployment of coverage and capacity in the rest of the country continues, with a strong focus on the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.

We will continue to keep you updated on the developments that are taking place to get you the best network coverage and quality."

Any idea when they will actually launch their LTE service? I'm due for an upgrade, and want to get the Note 4, but because they don't have LTE, they're only offering the non-LTE model, which is a bit ridiculous. Who wants to be stuck with a phone for 2 years that can't take advantage of the best connection available?

They do offer phone's with LTE even tho they did not roll LTE out yet,
Maybe they just don't have stock of the LTE version yet? Who did you check with?

Does the note 4 even have a non LTE version? :wtf: why would they exclude LTE in this day and age...

There is a non-LTE model of the Note 4, the SM-910H, and that's the one they're offering. Spoken to multiple stores, and Cell C direct. I'm hoping that when they launch their LTE, they'll upgrade to get the LTE version of the Note 4, so that's why I'm asking when are they launching their LTE service.

Soooo... can anyone report back on Cell C's LTE service in the Sandton/Bryanston/Sunninghill area?
