Cellc New Epic deals

Sorry, please ignore the above post, because I read it wrong. I have 4 months left on the contract, and there are limited options regarding early cancellation. If you took a phone with the contract which still needs to be paid off, then you gotta pay the remaining cost of the phone in 1 go, then there's an early cancellation penalty. I don't know how it works with CellC, but MTN charges a lot. Currently I'm waiting on the contract to fully end, then port the number to Vodacom.

Yup that is basically all you can do because the cost might just end of being the same as if you let the contract run. You need to phone 084143 and schedule a migration to prepaid in your last month. I did it and on the last day of the contract it got coverted to prepaid and I could port out.

Another option if you really really need your number off you ask for a number change where you get a cellc prepaid sim activate it and ask the Cellc rep or social team to do a number change where they move your contract number onto the prepaid sim and you get allocated a new number on your contract but you contract number is now on the prepaid sim.

That's 100% correct just been to the shop and they told me that I can do that as your second option. But I think it makes more sense if I just let the contract run until it finishes.

Wouldn't trust them.... they might change the terms anytime and you might actually end up paying more once you are in contract....

Why is there such a huge leap between the sim only deals and when you want to bundle it with a device? The sim only Epic R150 is R99 per month but if you take a samsung galaxy S6 EDGE it shoots R749p/m

I understand that but when I quickly compare the Cellc deal with the Vodacom deal this is what I get.

R150 airtime which is 79min voice only or 150mb data only or 40min and 75mb data if you split it 50/50

Vodacom: Samsung Galaxy S6 EDGE on Smart S for R689p/m
75min + 200sms + 200mb data per month

Just comparing those 2 deals which one is better? I mean Cellc is more expensive per month and less value on the sim. Vodacom is cheaper per month by R60 and offers more value for money. I don't understand how Cellc can call their deals Epic.

Also eyed this epic deal but after doing a comparison it seems vodacom is, weirdly, better value. Agree, this contract is not epic or am i missing something?

Prepaid is seriously expensive... My contract used to be R400 for an S4 plus 100mins, 100sms and 1Gb data, I would spend an extra R100 a month. So around R500 a month total.

Its the 15th, I've spent around R500 already just on airtime

The 1gb monthly, was a once of promotion. We won't be finding that again.

The value is that you are now out of your vodacom contract. If you're in an area with bad vodacom signal it's still worth it.

If you're in an area with bad vodacom signal you can get them to release you from your contract without penalty anyway. Just gotta go through the process. And I kept the phone too.
