Hi folks

AS part of this year’s broadband survey we need a few tests using the “Line Speed Meter” It will be great if you can install the Line Speed Meter, run a few tests and post your results URL.

http://www.tcpiq.com/tcpIQ/LineSpeed/Download/

The more tests the better, but even if you can just run one or two tests it will help tremendously.

Just for good measure we will throw in two MP3 players for two lucky testers :D

Regards,

RPM

VM GPRS test;

Download speed -1.00 KBits/sec
-0.13 KBytes/sec

Upload speed -1.00 KBits/sec
-0.13 KBytes/sec

DNS Speed 0.00 mSec 0.00 mSec
Latency 0.00 mSec 0.00 mSec

I hope this is OK.

I would, but it requires M$ .NET 2. There is no way I'm downloading that over an edge connection.

Anybody know what version the .NET on the SAIX ftp is?

If it helps, d/l speeds are either a constant 8.5KB/s or non-existent, depending on the mood of the GSM gods.

Ok, i'm downloading the above file and i'll give it a whirl.

The downloading bombed out. lol.

Had to disconnect and reconnect to continue.

lol at vm gprs.

My speed not really registering properly for the last 2 hrs. (kuk virgin gprs)

Tried 7 times already.

Think i've got same problem as what cellbel had. I'll keep trying though.

Pityful, isnt it.

If my adsl is installed soon, then I can d/l .NET2 and then do a speed test on VM. The irony of...

Poor us virgin users, cant even do the test properly.

Will try again in the morning.

my connection got 1.3 k total downloaded and hung there, never mind a speed test !!!!!
just any kind of data would be nice........:sick:

I keep getting the same bloody result. The only thing that differs is the DNS speed.

Cellbels is the only one to get proper results so far....

Same thing happened to me yesterday while testing MTN sim, now everytime i clear cache.

Still same results for me. Tried 13 times since yesterday arvo.

My dns speed was better on my last one,but all the other results are meaningless.

Dont know why it aint working.

Cellbel suggests to clear cache, how does that influence the test?

@Boodles,
No sorry, same problem now. This last test is same as previous.
I'm really confused now, i'll try again tomorrow.

EDIT: They look very much the same but they're not.
This HTML stuff is not OK, Copy Paste to notepad
is better.

I have tried it a few times with no browser loaded, but this made no difference.

What i dont understand is the connection between the cache and the tcp/iq program, as you suggest cellbel. Becuase, the way i see it, tcp/ip doesnt need any browser/web page to do what it supposed to do.

I've exited the tcp/ip program, and will restart it and try again....

@Boodles
I'm confused as well. :confused:
Was only a suggestion.

Edit: I think i found the problem Boodles. If i copy paste my tests links to NotePad they are all the same address, so every time it will show the latest test.
