I am looking for some clear answers re. using a cellphone, with Skype and ADSL. I am no techie, so need to keep things simple!

I have a Nokia E65, Telkom ADSL on a wireless router, and Skype.

If I make a call on the cellphone, via Skype (using Fring) to another Skype friend (using a pc) is there a cost to the call?

The Skype -to- Skype is normally free, but does using the cellphone as a Skype-phone (via wi-fi) add a call fee?

You are going to pay for the data usage on the cell network. Obviously depending how long you talk but the amount is miniscule.

what u wanna do is connect your cellphone wirelessly via WIFI to your Wireless ADSL router. And use your ADSL bandwidth to make calls :>

yip, thats the way foward. While you are within range of your router you can use your adsl line

yes,

the data flow will be:
cellphone -> router wifi -> ADSL router -> internet -> skype recipient
and back, and Not:
cellphone -> cellphone tower -> cellphone router thingy -> internet -> skype recipient

The only cost is your ADSL which you're already paying for.
Since theres no data going throught he cellular network (top data flow) theres no way they can charge you.

The E65 is supposedly a wi-fi phone . . . so this should be possible?

my fathers using his e65 and im using my n95 to call in that way...also get yourself a SIP acc (lowratevoip is the best) and then u can call without using fring - just as a normal call -free to othe SIP users and low rates worldwide -under 10c to SA landlines and 90c to cellphones and the other party wont even knw that u on voip

You cannot use a vodafone branded phone with out fring, cause the SIP has crippled on these phones and hence have to use fring.

Cheers
