I got an OEM Motorola BT50 battery from Ebay recently...quite a good job for a fake imho.
Even got the ORIGINAL sticker on the back and all that.
Have not been using it as it is a fake - was scared something like <this> could happen.
Who wants it?

Not really this is what happend.
I had "retired" the jasjar a couple of weeks ago. It really was a k@k phone, but i still had some contacts on it which i needed, so put it on charge and then forgot about it. It blew its top about 12 hrs later. What i am guessing is that some insulation broke down in the battery and it started shorting. After the explosion - when i woke up - the battery was actually glowing red hot

Suddenly I'm paranoid about keeping my phone in my pocket
The phone should auto regulate the charge of the battery, which it obviously didnt! Never buying a generic battery again!!!I think leaving it plugged in had something to do with it.......
